About Us

Thalabah Merino Stud was first registered in 1992.

Prior to then, the Williams family, under the leadership of patriarch John Williams and his wife Marion, led the field in the medium wool stud industry for many years with the highly successful Koonwarra Merino stud.

Thalabah Merino Stud was originally based on a selection of productive ewes from the Thalaba property.

Rams from Glendonald, Billa Burra Burra and Carrabungla were judiciously introduced with the use of home bred sires.

In later years specially selected rams from Greenland, Roseville Park and Grassy Creek were added to the sire battery.

Three years ago Poll Merino rams from Jolly Jumbuck and Greenland studs were purchased with Thalabah Poll now a registered stud.

In 2019 a Poll Merino from Alfoxton Stud was purchased, a half brother to the 2019 Australian Supreme Ram of the Year in 2019.

His progeny have recently hit the ground and look like an exciting line of sheep.
